I have been thinking about little else besides PASSOVER for a few weeks.  The preparations are many.  It is SO worth it!

Our family has celebrated for years now thanks to a pastor (and best friend) showing us the significance of this celebration.  Each year the meaning and significance grow deeper in my hearts and I feel myself moving away from many "traditional American" holidays.

The thoughts swirling around in my head are many.  What is making me sort of ILL is this fact God said:

So you shall observe the Feast of Unleavened Bread, for on this same day I will have brought your armies out of the land of Egypt. Therefore you shall observe this day throughout your generations as an everlasting ordinance.         From Exodus 12
Nowhere is scripture does God tell us to celebrate Christ's birth (Christmas) forever,  neither does Christ tell us to celebrate his raising from the dead (Easter).  Nor does God's word tell us to celebrate Mother's Day, Father's Day or really any other holiday I am aware of.... FOREVER!  and I am just BROKEN HEARTED that this EVERLASTING ORDINANCE is...well...passed over

When I look at the holidays I have celebrated forever...Passover is not one of them.  When I look at the church, by and large, I do not see many teaching about passover.

However, Christ does ask us to remember His body broken for us and His blood shed and guess what THAT IS FROM PASSOVER!!!!!! Luke 22:7-38

I wanted to share a few pictures from our families PASSOVER this year!  It has grown each year with families excited to know about the significance of this holiday.  This year we moved much of the furniture from our living room so we could "recline" (4 question and symbolic of resting in the Lord)!

The symbolism of Christ in Passover is B-E-A-utiful!

Some art from friends for the walls (next 3)

Some friends to share the night with (not all are pictured)

Some Symbols
Symbolizing the blood

Our Seder Table

Close-up of the plate

The cup of Sanctification

  • The Cup of Sanctification – based on God’s statement, “I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians”
We ask 4 questions
1. Why is this night different from all other nights?

2. On all other nights we eat herbs of every kind; on this night, why do we eat only bitter herbs?

3. On other nights we do not dip the sop even once; on this night, why do we dip it twice?

4. On all other nights we eat our meal in any manner; why is this night so special?

  • The Cup of Judgment or Deliverance- based on God’s statement, “I will deliver you from slavery to them”

We use masks to teach about the Plagues of Egypt
 The Blood!
Plagues have never been SO CUTE!
From right to left:
Blood, Frogs, Lice, Flies, Cattle Death, Boils, Hail & Fire, Locusts, Darkness and Death of Firstborn

We shared an AMAZING FEAST!
Didn't get many pictures as I was partaking but here is a gratuitous ZEKE shot and you can see the feast on his momma's knee :)

We hide the AFIKOMEN
this is right before it was found

There is a reward for the one who finds the Afikomen.  The symbolism is so great!

First there are 3 Matzo's together. The middle Matzo is broken, buried and then hidden.
Great is the reward for the one who finds the Afikomen.

Can YOU guess what the Afikomen represents?

We then "share" the Afikomen and nothing else is to be eaten after.

We are to savor the Afikomen.
The only thing left is the cup of REDEMPTION and the cup of PRAISE!

  • The Cup of Redemption – based on God’s statement, “I will redeem you with an outstretched arm”
The Cup of Elijah
We do not drink this cup until we all drink it together until we get to heaven

  • The Cup of Praise – based on God’s statement, “I will take you to be my people, and I will be your God”
While this in no way sums up our celebration, it gives a fair picture of the night.

My friend posted some neat links on her blog if you want to check them out:  Homeschooler Cafe"

Here are somethings I shared last year with links to explore: PASSOVER & FIRST FRUITS

& I recommend this book! If you want to learn more.

We celebrated our Passover according to the traditional Jewish calendar. However, if you are feeling like you want to get IN on this you can celebrate a MAUNDY THURSDAY Passover! It's not too late!
Maranatha! Come Lord Jesus!

Thank you so much for posting and sharing about this!! I've been thinking about this the past few years, but we have yet to do anything about it. I'll look into the resources you cited. :) I would really love to make this a part of our family's celebrations of the Lamb!

The Bible says that we will be celebrating the Feast of Tabernacles forever in the Kingdom! (That is Yeshua's REAL birthday!)

We JUST had a Jewish man come to our church and explain it all to us! It was the COOLEST thing! I put it all on the church blog, but not on my personal one.

LOVED this post! And I'm so glad you guys do this!
